The high-pressure injection system and electronic controls of the QSX ensure clean, powerful and efficient operation every time. Fuel is injected at pressures of up to 30,000 psi for cleaner, more complete combustion. The intelligence of the electronic control system allows you to use a variety of fuel - even kerosene when diesel fuel isn't available.

Add to that our patented wastegated turbo with excellent response and powerful torque rise.

And everything that makes this a great engine for original equipment also makes it a great engine for repowers.

Cummins QSX has standard features that other diesel engines can't even offer as options.

  • Dual Overhead Cams - The first drives the high-pressure fuel system and the second operates the intake and exhaust valves
  • High-Pressure Fuel System - Up to 30,000 psi for cleaner, more complete combustion
  • Heavy-Duty Rings, Pistons, Bearings - Built to last in excess of 21,000 hours (35% load factor) with high-strength alloys
  • Engine Protection System - Early detection system minimizes potential damage, downtime
  • Advanced Fleetguard® ES Oil and Fuel Filters - 500-hour service intervals
  • REPTO Rear Engine Power Take-Off - Delivers up to 400 hp; available for SAE A, B and C spline types
  • Cummins QuickCheck 5100 - The next generation QuickCheck 5100 combines the power of a portable computer and proprietary engine-monitoring software in one handheld unit. Users can quickly and easily capture engine data, compile summary reports and more - from any diesel engine with standard J1587 or J1939 data links. All in a shop-rugged, weather-resistant case. For information please visit us online at http://quickcheck.cummins.com or see Bulletin 4081707.
  • Water-In-Fuel Sensor - Integrated into the fuel filter, alerts the operator when water-contaminated fuel is present, so preventive measures can be taken before damage occurs
Maintenance Intervals.

Oil drain intervals for the Cummins QSX are set for 625 hours or six months. Filters are vertically mounted for easy access and rapid changing, with no messy spills. Polyvee belts have auto-tensioners, so they never need adjusting. Plus, with the QSX you won't need to adjust the overhead for 3,000 hours.

Dipsticks and oil fills are available from both sides of the engine. And there are three drain ports available, so you never have to worry about having access to maintenance points.

For complete maintenance information, please consult your Owner's Manual or Operations and Maintenance Manual.

The base warranty includes full coverage on every QSX engine and branded components, including electrics such as starters and alternators for unlimited hours during the first year of operation, extending through 2 years or 2,000 hours (whichever comes first). The base warranty also includes 3-year/10,000-hour standard protection on major components.

Three simple steps explain everything you need to know:

Step One: Full coverage on all Cummins industrial engines and branded components with unlimited hours during the first year of operation. This includes Cummins branded electrics such as alternators, starters, etc.

Step Two: Full coverage is extended for the second year, up to 2,000 hours of operation. Total hours are cumulative from the time the engine goes in service.

Step Three: Major components coverage including block, crankshaft, camshaft and rods on all products for the third year or up to 10,000 hours of operation.

Extended coverage is available with our Encompass Protection Plans with the flexibility to meet the needs of your construction operation.  Cummins Encompass has you covered, around the clock and around the globe.

Getting every installation right - the first time - is as important to Cummins as it is to you. PowerMatch and Advisor help ensure that we get it right, every time.

PowerMatch.

Cummins partners with OEM engineers to test and match the power of the QSX engine to specific equipment models and applications. We use our advanced electronics to shape power curves and ratings to match the jobs your equipment will be doing, taking into account the working environment, load factors, ambient temperatures and operating modes. Then we optimize the engine's performance with other vehicle components, using Advisor.

Advisor.

Advisor software builds a virtual model to make sure every system (air, intake, exhaust, cooling) is integrated for optimum performance. It takes into account everything from load factors to operating climates to duty cycles - then identifies systems or components that could negatively impact reliability - listing alternatives that will deliver the performance you expect the first time - every time.

The QSX lets you set up multiple torque curves that are switchable. You can program an alternate high idle speed, and make it operator controlled.
