Your engine has to respond instantly, every time you fire it up and step on the throttle. Cummins ISC delivers that kind of high-pressure performance. A new High-Pressure Common-Rail (HPCR) fuel system, coupled with a proven Holset turbo, delivers outstanding performance at ratings from 260 to 330 hp.

We know that you keep your equipment a long time. That's why every ISC comes with replaceable mid-stop wet cylinder liners, plus robust features that include heavy-duty roller followers, targeted piston cooling and 30% more efficient oil cooling for improved reliability and durability, every day of every year. Plus, heavy-duty design features also give the ISC stronger engine braking capacity.

Because every dollar counts, maintenance has been simplified for an industry-leading cost of ownership with reduced downtime.

Every ISC is covered by a full 5-year/100,000-mile (160,935 km) standard warranty. Cummins ISC engines are backed by the most extensive customer support network in the industry.

Need rugged, reliable auxiliary power? There's no better choice than an Onan® genset. Cummins engines and Onan gensets are backed by the same worldwide network of distributors/dealers, so we're able to offer design, manufacturing and customer support synergies not found in any other company supporting the fire/emergency industry.

With superior performance from engines like the ISC and strong support from our local distributor/dealer network, it's no wonder Cummins is fast becoming the #1 choice for fire apparatus everywhere in North America.

The High-Pressure Common-Rail (HPCR) fuel system maintains high injection pressures at every engine speed for optimum performance. A Holset wastegated turbo delivers exceptional low-end torque. Plus, the new fuel system and other design changes combine to make the ISC 50% quieter, so it's easier for the driver to hear the dispatcher.

Every heavy-duty Cummins ISC is designed for years of dependable use, with many design features found in every ISX and ISM engine. These include replaceable mid-stop cylinder liners for ease of rebuilding and longer engine life and roller camshaft followers for extended camshaft life. Plus, a robust crankcase breather that virtually eliminates oil carryover.

But that's not all. These additional design features add long-term reliability with significant benefits:

  • Direct piston-cooling nozzles lower piston temperatures for longer life.
  • Self-tensioning belt drive system drives both fan and alternator for reduced maintenance and increased belt life.
  • Combination full-flow/bypass lube oil filter delivers better filtration for longer component life.
  • High-efficiency lube cooler lowers oil temperatures and improves lubrication.

The result is an engine your fire department can count on, every day for years to come.

The E Brake by Jacobs®* is an exhaust brake designed specifically for the ISC. Drivers get extra control on every steep downhill grade, and the E Brake by Jacobs also helps reduce wear on service brakes, so they last significantly longer. Because it is a robust design, the optional E Brake by Jacobs delivers up to 205 braking horsepower, for increased driver control.

Oil and oil filter changes for the ISC are set at 500-hour, 6-month or 15,000-mile (24,000 km) intervals. The overhead doesn't need to be checked for 5,000 hours, 48 months or 150,000 miles (240,150 km).

The primary fuel filter changes are set at 500-hour, 6-month or 15,000-mile (24,000 km) intervals. Secondary fuel filter changes can go longer, at 1,000-hour, 12-month or 30,000-mile (48,000 km) intervals.

The standard coolant change interval is 240,000 miles (385,000 km). However, Cummins ISC is fully compatible with long-life coolant/antifreeze formulas which allow changes out to every 600,000 miles (960,000 km) or 6 years. If the engine is equipped with a coolant filter, it will need to be replaced on the same intervals as the oil filter. Follow maintenance guidelines recommended by the manufacturer for safe use with extended service intervals.
