When your oil and gas jobs need equipment that can handle a wide range of operating conditions and load factors, you need the precision and flexibility of full-authority electronic controls. That's where Cummins 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder QSB engines make every piece of equipment work harder, longer and better. Every day.

Ratings range from 110-275 hp, with both charge air cooled and turbocharged versions that deliver strong performance at every start. There's even a 24-valve version of our 6-cylinder QSB for applications that require some extra muscle. A low-maintenance filter assembly is just one of many features that minimize downtime for maintenance. Among the many options that let you customize your QSB are packages that reduce the overall noise level by as much as 4 dBA. Plus, the QSB meets every Tier 2/Stage II certification without compromise.

Getting the right combination to match your equipment, the oil and gas operating environment and workloads has never been easier. Cummins PowerMatch and Advisor are ready to provide expert assistance with your spec'ing and installation process.

Every QSB engine comes with a 2-year/2,000-hour base warranty.

Cummins QSB engines are built on one of the most successful engine block designs in the world. Available in 3.9-, 4.5- and 5.9-liter sizes, from 110-275 hp, and a choice of 12- or 24-valve configuration in the 6-cylinder models, there's a QSB engine with the right size, horsepower and torque to fit every type of oil and gas equipment. At every location.

  • A Deep, Stiff Crankcase With Structural Ribs - For lower noise and increased engine life.
  • Electronic Fuel Injection - Combines high injection pressures with electronically controlled timing and fueling for precise and instantaneous control.
  • Full-Authority Electronic Controls - Optimize engine operation and deliver critical information for controlling costs, reducing maintenance and seamless integration with other components.
  • Wastegated HX35 Turbocharger - Wastegated for better low engine speed performance and high engine speed boost.
  • Forged-Steel Crankshaft - Full fillet-hardened and integrally balanced, with internal cross drilling for lubrication.
  • Low-Maintenance Fuel Filter Assembly - 500-hour fuel filter life with integral water separator and water-in-fuel sensor. Top load for easy paper filter replacement with standard Fleetguard® filters. Environmentally friendly.
  • Centered Injectors With Symmetrical Piston Bowls - For improved airflow and even fuel dispersion, resulting in increased power, improved transient response and reduced fuel consumption (on 24-valve versions of the QSB).

Options for the QSB include:

  • Extended-Service Filters and Lubricants - Cummins, Fleetguard and Valvoline have teamed up to develop extended-service filters and lubricants that let you go beyond the 500-hour standard oil change interval, with reduced downtime and cleaner operation.
  • Noise-Reduction Packages - For up to 4 dBA less noise.
  • 300-Watt Fuel Heater - Can be integrated into the fuel filter assembly for improved cold-weather starting.
Maintenance Intervals.

QSB engines are designed to run up to 250 hours/6 months for turbocharged engines and 500 hours/6 months for charge air cooled engines between scheduled maintenance stops. The filter incorporates an integral water separator and water-in-fuel sensor to help protect against damage from water contamination.

Getting every installation right - the first time - is as important to Cummins as it is to you. PowerMatch and Advisor help ensure that we get it right, every time.

PowerMatch.

Cummins partners with OEM engineers to test and match the power of the QSB engine to specific equipment models and applications. We use our advanced electronics to shape power curves and ratings to match the jobs your equipment will be doing, taking into account the working environment, load factors, ambient temperatures and operating modes. Then we optimize the engine's performance with other equipment components, using Advisor.

Advisor.

Advisor software builds a virtual model to make sure every system (air, intake, exhaust, cooling) is integrated for optimum performance. It takes into account everything from load factors to operating climates to duty cycles - then identifies systems or components that could negatively impact reliability - listing alternatives that will deliver the performance you expect the first time - every time.
