Durability.

With well over 9 billion miles run, carrying every kind of load in every kind of weather condition, Cummins ISX and ISM engines with the cooled EGR subsystem have proven reliability. Now, a teardown of the highest mileage ISX engine available (nearly 600,000 miles/965,607 km) gives Cummins engineers conclusive evidence that these engines are on their way to setting a new standard for durability as well.

The Proof Is In The Parts.
bearingRod Bearings show less than 50% wear.
Ring Image The second ring on the piston has 75-80% life left.
Liner Image Piston liners still show corss-hatching from where they were plateau-honed.

All this, on an engine that's been maintained at 30,000 mile (48,000 km) oil change intervals, using standard CI-4 engine oil!
