Load-Based Speed Control.

Cummins Load-Based Speed Control (LBSC) is a patented* electronic feature on ISX and ISM engines that helps drivers achieve higher mpg without compromising performance.

Competitive engines can't adapt to changing driving conditions. But this Cummins exclusive automatically adjusts the engine operating range to match the load on board and the route.

It optimizes engine rpm during normal driving conditions by governing the engine speed to encourage shifting in the most fuel-efficient ranges. At the same time, it continuously monitors vehicle operating conditions and allows access to an extended engine operating range every time it senses the need - on a grade exceeding 2%, during sharp turns when tire scrub may occur or with a load in excess of 80,000 lb, for example. LBSC does not limit engine speed when operating in the top two gears or during gear changes.

LBSC even gives the option of setting two governed engine speeds - low and high - that can be adjusted for high-performance driving, fuel-sensitive driving or a balanced approach between the two.

Drivers like LBSC because they get the full power they need, every time they need it. Owners like LBSC because it encourages every driver to become as fuel-efficient as their best driver.
